Danish film festival feels fallout from cartoon row
An Iranian director has pulled out of a Danish film festival in protest against the publication in Denmark of cartoons satirizing the Prophet Muhammad. Majid Majidi said he was withdrawing "to protest against insulting any religious belief or icon."
"A paper in your country has insulted the huge population of Muslim people and disrespected the boundaries of the holy sanctuaries of beliefs," he said. Organizers of the Natfilm festival said they regretted Mr Majidi's decision. "The festival aims to increase knowledge of other cultures and thus build tolerance and understanding between peoples of the world," said festival director Kim Foss.

Outrage
Director Majid Majidi's 2005 film The Willow Tree was to have been shown at Denmark's biggest film festival later this month. The film has been replaced by another Iranian film, Fariborz Kamkari's The Forbidden Chapter. The 12 cartoons published in September 2005 by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten have caused outrage among some Muslims. Some Arab states have imposed economic sanctions on Danish products in protest.
The 17th annual Natfilm festival runs from 24 March to 2 April in Copenhagen and other cities in Denmark.

islam is not a religion of peace.if so y should moslems b com utraged at printing cartoons of muhammed.jesus christ has been ridiculed much more times in the westernmedia than muhammed.christians never turned violentb coz christianity is a religion of peace .christ said to love and forgive those who hurt u.if anybody comes to rape or kill u just give in so that they will be put to shame by the love of shining glory of christ.similar is the islamic response to fashion models. muslims donot like beutiful women exhibiting themselves fashion and modelling are indeed outcomes of christian world.it seems muslims are against thetall thin sexy slim concept of the west bcoz they fear it can coz them to abandon there religions satan is trying hard toincite muslims against church as we so in miss world contest in nigeria.but he wont suceed as christ the descendent of women has defeated the descendent of satan on the cross

>>Jesus Christ has been ridiculed much more in the western media than muhammad>christians never turned violent. christianity is a religion of peace.<<
This is the most ridiculous, bigotted and hypocritical statement.
Christians have persecuted and mass murdered jews for almost 2 millennia in europe.
Christians have barbecued 2 million jews alive only 60plus years ago.(Buddhists, hindus and muslims were not invited to that party)
Christians have started the first worldwar, 10 million dead, 20million wounded.
Christians, again, have instigated worldwar2, 16 million dead combatants, 20million civilians kaput, (numbers by Groliers: The Peoples Encyclopedia)
Christians (frenchies and yankees) have killed more than 5million vietnamese during the Vietnamwar.
So much for the morality of the Christian Religion.
In nomini Patri et Fili et Spiritu Sancti.

Christine, this isn't a SMS text message page. how do you expect people to understand such rubbish as y for why, u for you and b come for become? both the Bible and Koran are blood thirsty. people are basically scum and the sooner we realise that we're all part of the problem and try to change ourselves for the better rather than having a go at other people, the better.

CORRECTION.
Regarding my previous message/reply:
>Christians have barbecued 2 million Jews alive only 60plus years ago<
should read:
"Christians have barbecued 6 million Jews alive only 60plus years ago"
